What brand is the laptop? Most manufacturers should have tools for programming this information into the motherboard, though these are usually only available to authorised technicians and repair shops, not the general public. Many may have been leaked, though, so if you look around a bit, you might find one that works for your laptop.
Alternatively, find a repair shop that handles your laptop's brand and see if they'll do it for you. Might have to pay them though, and/or turn in your old motherboard (so there aren't to of them with the same serial number out there). What brand is the laptop?

Hp Bios Serial Number Change
I needed to replace the Motherboard of a Lenovo Edge E531 laptop. We ordered a new motherboard (not from Lenovo) and i have it placed in the laptop. When I start up the laptop I get a couple warnings. One that says 'Machine Type and Serial Number Invalid' and 'Machine UUID invalid'. From all of the posts I have seen I need to get my hands on a Hardware Maintenance Disk. However, every where I look I can't find anything online.

Thanks I wish I could be of more help, but there is a Utility needed to 'tattoo' the information. HP and Fujitsu have similar utilities.
In most cases you have to be an authorized technician to be able to get the software. Sometimes you may luck out and find it online. Might be able to try a local Lenovo authorized repair shop and see if they would be willing to give you a copy of the software.
